Attending athletes

  • Youth and Junior cheerleading are competing on saturdag.
Senior cheerleaders and performance cheer; youth, junior and senior, is competing on sunday.

The venue is open for athlets from 7:30 am both days.

  • Each team’s accreditation time is listed on the schedule; please adhere to it. Competitors line up in alphabetical order by surname and must state their full name at accreditation. No ID is required to be shown at Norwegian Open.

Make sure all piercings and accessories are removed before heading to warm-up and ensure you have your athlete wristband on your wrist. All athletes will be checked for piercings and jewelry after accreditation, including the PeeWee performance teams.

Coaches/leaders should inform participants of these requirements before arriving at the competition. All clubs must submit a confirmation form that the registered athletes are the ones actually participating and that their licenses have been paid. This form may be submitted in advance or at check-in before accreditation bands are issued. The form is attached in the same email as this information letter.

For accreditation questions, contact NAIF at cheer@naifcheer.no

  • Upon arrival, each club will receive an envelope containing accreditation wristbands and other practical information at the information desk by the entrance to Hall B. The envelope includes bands for both days. The information desk is clearly marked and visible from the main entrance.

The envelope can be collected on Saturday morning from 07:30. Only one representative per club may pick it up. The collector must count the wristbands, note their phone number, and sign upon receipt so the organizers know who retrieved them. All registered athletes and coaches/team leaders receive a wristband to be worn around the wrist for the entire weekend.

Only those with the band may enter the locker room, accreditation, warm-up, and competition areas.

Wristband holders do not need a ticket; the band grants access to the entire Norwegian Open both days. If an athlete removes their band, they can get a new one at the information desk by returning the old band.

  • There are two full mat areas in the warm-up zone, accessible only after accreditation. Refer to the schedule for allocated times.

Mat 1 is without music; Mat 2 includes music. Each team (both competition and demonstration) gets 4 minutes on each warm-up mat.

Dance teams should be prepared to warm up on mats (with some floor space available if preferred).

Teams have 2 minutes between ending on Mat 1 and starting on Mat 2 to avoid delays. These mats may only be used by teams that have completed accreditation.

Volunteers will manage timing and mat assignments. Additionally, some mat strips are placed in the café area for informal use before accreditation—please share and be considerate

  • Lunch is served in a dedicated area exclusively for registered participants. It is available from 10:30 to 15:30 on both days.

  • Teams are responsible for bringing their own music and playing it via a phone or similar music player.

If using a phone, please set it to airplane mode and max volume before handing it over to the music controller. Submit your music to the music controller at least two teams before yours.

Each team must have a designated person responsible for starting the music to ensure someone is always present at the music station in case of issues. The location of the music controller will be clearly marked.

This person does not need accreditation with the team and may enter via the music controller area without accreditation.

  • Locker areas will be cordoned off and labeled by club. Space is limited, so please minimize personal belongings.

Security guards will be present at the locker room entrances. NRC is not responsible for valuables—clubs should ensure no valuables are left in bags. There are no water taps in the locker rooms, but water bottle refill stations are available. There are no mirrors in the locker rooms, but there is a separate mirror area and toilets have good mirrors.

Clubs are responsible for ensuring the locker room is clean before leaving. One person from each club should check that the area is tidy, use provided trash bins for garbage, and use designated bags for recyclable bottles. Avoid discarding trash in the bottle bags.

  • This year’s Norwegian Open will use digital judging: E-scoring.

All scoresheets will be emailed after the awards ceremony to the club’s registered contact email. Unlike previous Norwegian competitions where judges' points were summed, the system now displays scores out of 100.

The actual results are unchanged, as total points are simply divided by the number of judges.

Note: E-scoring uses ECU’s deduction rules. Norwegian rules—which have a lower deduction for illegal elements (2 points vs. ECU's 5 points)—will still apply but will be entered as a different “deduction” type in the system to align with Norwegian regulations. Any deductions will clearly specify the reason and corresponding rule.

  • NRC Tigers and the NAIF cheer section remind all athletes and spectators to display good sportsmanship during Norwegian Open. All athletes have trained hard and deserve attention and respect—please do not stand during routines. Both spectators and participants are encouraged to cheer for all teams. Smile, spread positive energy—let’s make it a fantastic cheer weekend! We look forward to the season’s first competition!
